Tian Nienaber

Tian Nienaber is a South African singer-songwriter whose music blends raw emotion with indie and alternative acoustic sounds. Starting his journey as a guitarist and songwriter at the age of 12, he later honed his craft while working in the music industry behind the scenes before stepping into the spotlight as a performer. Known for his heartfelt storytelling, Tian writes in both Afrikaans and English, often drawing on themes of love, loss, healing, and overcoming personal struggles. His debut single Hurting Love earned international recognition and won him Best Solo Artist at the Banger Music Awards in 2021. Since then, he has released powerful tracks such as Soldier On, Hemel Se Deur, and Knip die Tou. In 2025, Tian was honored with an Afri-Indie Music Award for Best Adult Contemporary Single of the Year for his Afrikaans ballad Taal van die oë, cementing his place as one of South Africa’s most authentic and compelling voices.
